Summertime!
Well, maybe I am getting ahead of myself. I know, I know. “Officially,” the season of summertime does not begin until June 21. But we all know that the marker for summertime is when the kids finish up their school year.
So, summertime!
Maybe that made you think of that great song that I heard recently. You know it if you’re old enough, Will Smith & DJ Jazzy Jeff. Here is part of the chorus:
Summer, summer, summertime
Time to sit back and unwind
That is my prayer for you my friends. My prayer is that you would find the time to sit back and unwind. Be intentional about planning to do so because it matters for you and everyone within your circle of influence. A “spent” you, is not good to anyone. Not to mention, it’s not good for you! So, permit yourself to find that time to rest and unwind. This reminds me of a favorite word from Jesus:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV)
We serve a Lord who is Rest, and He encourages us to rest.
