Hello everyone!
This summer we are diving into the book of Isaiah, and it's remarkable how Isaiah's ancient prophesies point to Jesus and connect to our lives today. As we read the Bible, we find ourselves swept up in God's great restoration plan for all people. This plan began long before us and will continue long after.
One of the key themes of the book of Isaiah is how God continues to pursue Israel even when the people fall short. God's faithful love is on display, and His love still extends toward us in the same way!
This is a passage I've been reflecting on recently:
For this is what the high and exalted One says-
he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
"I live in a high and holy place,
but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
Isaiah 57:15 (NIV)
The ever-holy, almighty God promises to comfort contrite people. If someone is contrite, it means they are humble and repentant. Even though God is exalted above all, he longs to restore those who humbly turn to Him. The contrite find Him. God wants to breathe fresh life into those who are exhausted and worn out.
This is a promise that you and I can can cling to today. Are you tired? Are you worn down by the daily grind? Are you crushed underneath the pile of unmet expectations? if our heart is humble and contrite, we can rest assured that God is with us. When we are too worn out to move, He comes to us. He promises to be with us. We can find relief, comfort, and life right now.
Praise God for his unending love for us! I pray that you experience the life-giving presence of God today.
