From Our Campus Pastor

“It’s as if we are all in the same boat but we can’t seem to row together.” I was on a team at one point in my life and our boss said this to us as we were in a team meeting….

It felt very much like how the disciples probably felt at the last supper when Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.” Well, not that the boss was anything close to Jesus but several of us on the team certainly walked away from that meeting wondering, “surely not I, boss!” We all felt like we were working diligently to “row together.” Who could it be that is out of sync?

I love the boat and rowing metaphor though. At Crosspoint we are all in the same boat together because we are a family and it’s important that we row together in a rhythm so that we can go farther together and go faster. (Although the process of being discipled is not about going fast!) Rowing together in rhythm is how I feel about our whole church right now and I love witnessing and experiencing the fruit of that rhythm! Thanks be to God!

What does it mean to row together spiritually as a church family?

It means prayerfully considering and taking the step of faith to join others to develop in community. How can you do that you might ask? It is called GroupLink and this Sunday, August 16, is your opportunity to pray and act to join your church family in spiritual growth via engagement in a group.

It means aligning our family discipleship vision through the prayerful and intentional work reflected in our Family Ministry Roadmap. Every person that calls Crosspoint home can be a part of what God is doing in discipling every generation. If you have questions about how you could be involved, please do not hesitate to set up a time to meet with anyone on our ministry team.

And finally, we will soon begin a year of being together in God’s Word. As a follower of Jesus who has spent a life of passionately pursuing Jesus through the scriptures, I couldn’t be more excited for what God will do in and through us in this next year as we seek Him together. Life change happens as we are transformed by the words of God that will not return void.

So, grab your paddle and let’s get in sync! The ride will be exhilarating!
